Cyber Lockers are becoming a very popular way to store files and share them online. Companies like mediafire, megaupload, UbuntuOne, Google's Drive, and more. These companies are making millions on users that want to have easy access to their files online and be able to share files with friends, family, and coworkers.
These companies paint their business practices as good and legal. Though Hollywood has been trying to paint them as havens for pirates.
A new survey came out today trying to figure out what people use cyber lockers for. The survey conducted by Skydox polled the use of free file-sharing sites among 4,119 workers at companies in the U.S. and U.K. Two-thirds (66%) of the employees admitted to using free file-sharing sites for work. Among these ‘sharers” 45% said their IT departments are aware of their usage of these services.
